Cybersecurity Workshop and Assessment - St. Louis
Tom Noon, President, KC Computer Support - KC Computer Support hold a wide variety of industry certifications from organizations including Microsoft and Cisco as well as the CompTIA+ Security Certification
Are You Prepared To Meet DoD Cybersecurity Requirements?
If you are a supplier to the Department of Defense (DoD), DECEMBER 31, 2017 is the deadline for you to be compliant with minimum cybersecurity requirements or risk losing you DoD (and other government agency) business.
The General Services Administration (GSA) and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) also have similar cybersecurity requirements that must be met by year’s end. (See the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement – Section 252.204.7008 for the complete explanation).
If you aren’t in compliance, now is the time to be proactive and to help you take an important step in the right direction, Missouri Enterprise is sponsoring a Cybersecurity Workshop and Readiness Assessment Program.
The standards that companies must meet are outlined in a publication from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST Special Publication 800-171) and fall into 14 categories with specific requirements in each. The categories, which will be explored thoroughly during the 4-hour workshop are:
- Access Control
- Awareness & Training
- Audit & Accountability
- Configuration Management
- Identification & Authentication
- Incident Response
- Media Protection
- Personnel Security
- Physical Protection
- Risk Assessment
- Security Assessment
- System & Communications Protection
- Systems & Information Integrity
Program Phase I
During and following the workshop, Missouri Enterprise and its partners from the highly-respected IT Management Company, KC Computer Support, will help each company work though an assessment (on an easy to use excel spreadsheet) of the 14 categories of the standard.
And, following the workshop, Missouri Enterprise and KC Computer Support will visit each company’s facility to conduct an electronic* network scan to identify, in a confidential, written report, areas of concern that will require remediation.
Program Phase II
Using both the assessment worksheet and the results of the network scan, Missouri Enterprise and KC Computer Support will work with your company’s management and IT Department to develop an implementation/action plan that you can use to document your compliance with the standard.
Depending upon the results of your assessment, your electronic network scan and your internal resources, you may choose to request additional assistance from Missouri Enterprise and KC Computer Support. Your Missouri Enterprise Area Business Manager can help you the service level that is right for your company.
Cost includes up to 3 participants per company, use of the Detector equipment and additional reference materials.
*The electronic network scan part of your assessment will be performed using a unique hardware/software application called Detector™. This equipment is installed on your network for a brief time and it uses a unique combination of machine learning and intelligent tagging to identify suspicious anomalies, changes and threats. In addition, its powerful analysis engine examines multiple data points and identifies security issues caused by unusual behavior and network misconfigurations.
When the equipment is disconnected from your network there is no trace or lingering effect and all scans are held in a secure cloud server and used only to prepare your confidential assessment report. The scan is read-only of your network environment, which means that nothing is changed before, during or after the equipment is connected to your network and the scan does not capture passwords.
