Sherry L. Phelps
As the Chief Financial Officer, Sherry is responsible for supervision and management of the financial plans and policies including planning, controlling, and directing the accounting and financial reporting systems.
She provides oversight, assistance, and guidance for all functions of the core operation team. Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification. Provides timely reviews of the organization's financial status and progress in its various programs and activities. Prepares and analyzes reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations. Maintains up-to-date knowledge regarding compliance with federal and state grants and contracts requirements. Evaluates Missouri Enterprise compliance with the same and advises leadership regarding any action needed. Monitor and advise CEO and Board on cash management, investments as well as state and federal tax issues. Arranges for and oversees audits of the company's accounts. Prepares for and participates in Board and Finance Committee meetings.
Sherry is also a member of the Missouri Enterprise Leadership Team and helps establish policies, procedures, and strategic objectives for the organization.
Background and Education
Before joining the Missouri Enterprise team for the second time, she was Vice President of Lending for Central Federal Savings & Loan for over 16 years serving customers with commercial, residential, and consumer loan needs. She held the position of Small Business Microloan Loan Officer at Rural Missouri Incorporated for three years assisting startup companies with their working capital needs. Previously when she worked at Missouri Enterprise for over nine years, she started in the accounting department, then moved to Project Manager serving customers in the area of business planning, cash flow and budgeting, loan packaging, and grant preparation.
Sherry holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting with an emphasis in Management from the University of Houston – Clear Lake, Houston, Texas.
