Professional Business Advisor / Consultant

Seeking individual who understands and speaks the language of business, particularly in the manufacturing sector. This individual must have excellent management skills, be business savvy with strong financial acumen and understands how business strategies, operations, and financials affect the bottom line to help business leaders improve performance and outcomes for their companies.

In this role, you will build long-term business relationships across all manufacturing segments as well as with Missouri Enterprise personnel. You will leverage Missouri Enterprise's capabilities to address client needs. You will formulate, write, and implement your business plan consisting of goals and strategies to achieve success. You will work closely with project managers to generate deliverable solutions. You will also have an impact on marketing strategies to assist the team in achieving organizational goals.

Reports To: Chief Financial Officer

Summary: Responsible for assisting with the supervision and management of the financial plans and policies including planning, controlling, and directing the accounting and financial reporting systems. Performs a wide range of duties which require tact, judgment, independent action, and the ability to handle multiple assignments with critical timelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists with preparation of the center’s, federal and state budgets, reviewing budget proposals, and preparing necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Assist with the preparation of the organization’s federal and state budgets, reviewing budget proposals, and preparing necessary supporting documentation and justification.
  • Provide timely reviews of the organization’s financial status and progress in its various grant programs and activities.
  • Prepare and analyze reports that summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge regarding compliance with federal and state grants and contracts requirements. Evaluate Missouri Enterprise’s compliance and advise management on any necessary actions.
  • Monitor and advise the CFO, CEO, and Board on cash management, investments, as well as state and federal tax issues.
  • Assist in the audit of the company's accounts.
  • Ensure cross-training in all other functions of the core operations team to provide backup or assistance when necessary, in areas such as payroll, accounts receivables, accounts payable, human resource functions, purchasing, bank reconciliation, month-end reporting, etc.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Significant experience in grant accounting and budgeting is required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A valid driver's license is required.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to participate in overnight travel 10% of the time.

We seek individuals with a strong background in either Quality Management Systems (QMS) implementation or Continuous Improvement implementation within a manufacturing environment. Our ideal candidate is self-sufficient, can effectively assist manufacturers in addressing operational and strategic challenges, and provides hands-on technical and business development services from the plant floor to the C-suite.

Key Qualifications:

  • Background in Quality Management Systems (QMS) or Continuous Improvement implementation in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong engineering or business acumen.
  • A college degree or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proficiency in the tools, processes, and methods needed in today's manufacturing sector.

Location and Flexibility:

  • Must reside in St. Louis, Missouri, or the surrounding area.
  • Remote work flexibility.
  • Approximately 15% travel around the state of Missouri to deliver our services.
