What is IATF 16949?

IATF is the common recognized international Quality Management System requirement for companies developing and manufacturing products in the Automotive industry. Developed by the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), the standard is based on the ISO 9001 system, so companies already certified in ISO 9001 have a relatively easier path to achieving IATF 16949 compliance.  The standard is a QMS system focused on continuous improvement, variation reduction, defect prevention and waste minimalization in the Automotive Supply Chain.
