ABOUT STEINERZ LLC. Located in the central Missouri town of High Point, SteinerZ LLC specializes in CNC laser cutting, robotic welding, CNC metal forming and metal fabrication. They also offer CAD drawing services to assist customers with product design and specifications. Since it started in 2010, SteinerZ has invested heavily in state-of-the-art equipment and in its people, ensuring they have the skills training and operational support they need to be master craftsmen. THE CHALLENGE. Always on the lookout for ways to do things better and faster, SteinerZ needed to standardize their production processes to streamline their operation from the shop floor to the top floor. They wanted to implement the ISO 9001: 2015 standard for two reasons – to strengthen their company culture with a structured system for production, and to open the door for opportunities requiring ISO certification. SteinerZ shop floor is always busy, so they knew they needed to find a top-quality resource to help them implement ISO 9001 and gain their certification. They reached out to Missouri Enterprise for help.
MEP CENTER’S ROLE. Missouri Enterprise brought in one their knowledgeable and experienced ISO 9001: 2015 Project Managers to assist SteinerZ on their ISO journey. The project commenced with a thorough assessment of their current processes, including direct engagement with everyone at the company to examine each person’s role and listen to their input on the current system’s strengths and weaknesses. With solid baseline information on the existing state of SteinerZ’s operations, the process of change began. Written documentation of production processes was developed and reviewed with the SteinerZ team to ensure everyone was on the same page and understood how the process was going to move forward. Periodic meetings were kept short and efficient, and the project moved along at a pace SteinerZ was comfortable with. Changes were focused on making positive improvements that would streamline efficiency and enhance production, while at the same time making individual roles less stressful. As a result of working with Missouri Enterprise, and because of the great team of people at SteinerZ, they achieved their ISO 9001: 2015 certification on the first try.
